1910 – 1916: Nation’s First Civilian Flight School: Wright School of Aviation Montgomery
1917: 106th Aero Squadron Established (precursor to Alabama Air National Guard)
1920s: Auburn University began teaching aviation (making its flight programs among the longest operating in the US)
1927: Ruth Elder attempts Atlantic Crossing
1941: Tuskegee Airmen Established
1941: Maxwell Airforce Base Established
1941: Redstone Arsenal Established
1943: Redstone Army Airfield Established
1946: Maxwell Airforce Base Air University Established
1946: Modern Alabama Air National Guard Established
1946: Auburn Naval ROTC founded
1955: Fort Novosel Army Aviation Center Established
1960: Marshall Space Flight Center Established
1982: Space Camp Established
2015: Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility opened in Mobile
2018: Red Tails: Tuskegee Airmen visit 187th Fighter Wing
2020: Alabama Air National Guard chosen to receive F-35s
2020: State’s First Student Built Airplane Completed (B. C. Rain Students)
